Beatrix Kramlovsky
Born in Steyr, Upper Austria Ms. Kramlovsky studied English and French Literature at the University of Vienna. An accomplished painter and artist as well, Beatrix wrote short stories and book reviews that were published in Austrian, German and Swiss newspapers.

Ms. Kramlovsky soon moved to East Berlin in GDR (husband named General Representative for Shell Oil in the German Democratic Republic), where a prohibition on publishing and exhibiting artistic work was soon enforced. Courageous galerists in Dresden helped exhibit Ms. Kramlovsky's work illegally in 1988 and 1989. Also
during this time it was forbidden to read in private circles in the GDR, including Beatrix's short stories and her first novel in Austria.

After returning to Vienna in 1991 Ms. Kramlovsky continued writing and painting, but broadened her horizons by teaching contemporary literature and creative writing at universities in different countries, including Iran, Bulgaria, Germany, Ireland, Turkey, Cuba.

The setting of many stories is international, but the Viennese sources in her literary voice cannot be denied. Black humour and a Baroque joy of life always shimmers through, even in her crime stories and novels.

Ms. Kramlovsky loves being a writer and artist, and is the proud mother of two children.
