Book Cents is a GREEN company.

Because we are environmentally friendly and because of the ever increasing cost of a postage stamp, we are now attempting to become a paperless office.  We understand the costs associated with submitting stories to agents/editors and hope this change will both, save the writer money on postage and expedite the time in getting a response back about their submission(s).   We only accept QUERIES and SUBMISSIONS via the internet. Please see the GUIDELINES below for details on how to send e-QUERIES and e-SUBMISSIONS to us.

BEFORE you query... ask yourself:

  • Is my manuscript finished?  (This is a MUST!)

  • Does it fit in one of the categories this agency is acquiring or represents?

  • Has my manuscript been refined, revised and polished?

  • Is my manuscript in the proper format according to industry standards?

If you can answer YES to all these questions, you are ready to query an agent!

To submit a QUERY to Book Cents:

  • Query must be in the body of the e-mail - we will not open any attachments we haven't requested 

  • ONE query per e-mail

  • Should be no more than one page in length (black, double spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman -OR- Courier New)

  • MUST include genre and word count (preferably in the first paragraph)

  • Be sure the genre is one this agency is acquiring

  • Should include any pertinent information about the writer (contact info, awards, publications, organization affiliations)

  • For a faster response, feel free to include the first chapter of your story at the end of your query

Please E-MAIL queries directly to the agent who represents the genre that you write.

If you get a request for a PARTIAL or a FULL manuscript from us:

  • Your submission MUST BE ATTACHED to our e-mail request, or it will be deleted

  • E-mail your submission directly to the agent who requested it

  • Please include a detailed synopsis of the story in the body of the e-mail

  • Requested PARTIAL or FULL should be sent as an attachment in your e-mail

  • All manuscripts must be paginated

  • Be sure to include your full name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address on cover page

Again, we understand the importance of a timely response, so we make every effort to respond within a four week time frame - as our schedule and the volume of submissions allow.  Please DO NOT call about the status of your partial.  If you do not hear back from us within eight weeks, please feel free to send us an e-mail, including your name, title of work, genre and the date you sent it to us.
